Silversea will unveil six brand-new theatrical productions in the coming months. Developed in collaboration with renowned production company Luna Rossa Productions, the new shows will be performed in theaters aboard the cruise line's ultra-luxury ships and will enhance the existing onboard entertainment program.
With high-quality musical performances, elaborate costumes, evocative sets and fantastic visual effects, the shows will highlight the talent of The Voices of Silversea, a highly successful international vocal ensemble.
Each of the new shows will be exclusive to a particular ship, joining three productions that are common to all ships: the new production, Grande Amore, an operatic show featuring musical tracks composed exclusively for Silversea by world-leading orchestrator, arranger and conductor Richard Balcombe, and recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; Argento, an art deco-inspired production dedicated to the swing era; and Blues Brother Soul Sister, a musical experience that captures the funky vibe of the sixties and seventies.
In addition to the Grande Amore show , the new production will include:
- The King on Strings, an exciting tribute to the legendary Elvis Presley, will premiere on the Silver Whisper, departing on December 20, 2018. This sophisticated tribute to the King of Rock and Roll will include orchestral performances of classics such as "It's Now or Never," "Blue Suede Shoes," "Can't Help Falling in Love," and many more.
- Silver, Platinum, Gold will debut aboard the Silver Shadow in the Far East starting February 1, 2019, offering a fun-filled trip back to the Motown era. Singers dressed in glittering period costumes, a DJ , and nostalgic hits from artists like Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, and The Supremes will have audiences moving to the rhythm of one of music's most memorable decades.
- Rhapsody in Rock pays tribute to Queen, one of the most popular bands of the 1970s. The launch will take place aboard the Silver Muse during its Far East voyage, beginning March 8, 2019. This energetic, hard-rock-inspired production will entertain guests with a selection of the British band's most iconic hits, including "We Are the Champions," "We Will Rock You," and "Bohemian Rhapsody."
- Lyrically Yours will take to the stage aboard the Silver Spirit starting April 15, 2019. The eclectic show, inspired by Rolling Stone magazine's list of the greatest songwriters of all time, showcases the music of some of the world's most beloved lyricists, from John Lennon and Paul McCartney to Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan, and even ABBA and James Taylor.
- Jersey Beats will debut aboard the Silver Wind in Northern Europe starting May 30, 2019. It will take a nostalgic journey through the hit songs of The Four Seasons, the 1960s pop group immortalized in the Tony Award-winning musical Jersey Boys and the Hollywood film of the same name. Known for their characteristically harmonious style, the group entertained the world with such sing-along hits as “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” “Sherry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and many more.
