The Port Authority of Ceuta announces the arrival this Wednesday, October 17, 2018, of the ship “Arcadia,” which, handled by the company MH Bland SL, will be docked between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Muelle España (east side). The cruise ship will arrive in Ceuta from the port of Barcelona and will depart for the port of Southampton.
This giant ship has already made a stop in our port, last October 2016, and belongs to the prestigious British-American shipping company P&O of the Carnival group – the world's leading cruise operator, betting on the Port of Ceuta with this new stop, which confirms the shipping company's interest in including the port of Ceuta in its cruise itineraries.
This cruise ship broke records for its size on its previous stop, surpassing the "Aurora" cruise ship of similar characteristics.
The dimensions of the “Arcadia”, with a length of 289 m and a draft of 8 m, made it one of the largest tourist cruise ships that had docked so far in the port of Ceuta on its previous stop, with similar characteristics to the ship of the same shipping company “Aurora” that visited us last year, the Arcadia is larger by reaching 289 m, exceeding the 270 m that the Aurora has.
Approximately 3,000 people on board, including passengers and crew
The ship “Arcadia” carries approximately 2,000 passengers, mostly British and American, and around 1,000 crew members of various nationalities. They will have the opportunity to enjoy the usual tourist excursions and shopping in Ceuta during their stay in the city. To this end, the Ceuta Autonomous City Tourist Services will assist in welcoming the tourists by setting up a tourist information point near the ship's dock and providing buses to facilitate their transfer to the city center.
This cruise follows an 18-day tourist itinerary through Seville, Cagliari, Naples, Messina (Sicily), Elba, La Spezia, Toulon, Barcelona, Ceuta and return to the British port of departure, Southampton.
The arrival of this new cruise ship confirms the positive results of the commercial efforts that the Port Authority has been carrying out in recent years, with its presence in international contracting forums and participation in associations for the promotion of this traffic, as well as the investments made in the Muelle España to accommodate these ships and receive their tourists, who during their stay will pass through our city to the benefit of its tourism and economic sector.
