Madrid, September 28, 2018. Yesterday, Thursday, September 27, the 22nd edition of the Tarragona Chamber of Commerce's Internationalization Awards ceremony was held. The event served as the occasion for the Chamber to present its highest distinction, the Golden Key, to Francesco Muglia, the new Managing Director of Costa Cruises for Spain and Portugal, in recognition of the company's commitment to the city since it began operating there two years ago.
In addition, Muglia, together with Sergi Vives, president of Internationalization of the Chamber, Laura Roigé, president of the institution, and Enric Company, who acted as master of ceremonies, presented the award to the three winning companies: MYR Medical Specialties, H10 Hotels and Covestro.
“On behalf of Costa Cruises, I want to express my gratitude for this recognition. We believe that choosing Tarragona was the right decision. We began this journey together in 2016, uniting the efforts of various stakeholders in the public and private sectors. Thanks to the exceptional professional and personal commitment of each member of this public-private team, I can say that we have achieved even better results than we had anticipated for 2017 and 2018. For this reason, the Costa Victoria, with a capacity for 2,300 passengers, has replaced the Costa neoRiviera this season, representing a 35% increase in capacity. And I can say that this growth will continue next year with the addition of the Costa Fortuna, a ship that will allow us to increase the number of passengers to 3,700,” declared Francesco Muglia after receiving the Golden Key.
Costa Cruises began operating in Tarragona in 2016 and has consistently achieved excellent results ever since. The support of local entities such as the Port of Tarragona, the City Council, the Provincial Council, and the city's Chamber of Commerce, among others, has played a fundamental role in the success of its operations in the city.
