Ornella Chacón Martel, former Minister of Public Works and Transport of the Canary Islands Government, has been appointed this Friday by the Council of Ministers as president of State Ports.
A 45-year-old architect by profession, Chacón is originally from La Oliva (Fuerteventura). In 2011, she took office as a councilor of the Fuerteventura Island Council, assuming responsibilities for land planning until 2015.
From that year until December 2016, she served in the Canary Islands government as Minister of Public Works and Transport, a position that also includes the presidency of the Canary Islands Ports Public Entity.
In addition, during that period he was part of the board of directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas representing the Government of the Canary Islands.
