Lisbon has begun the countdown to the Seatrade Cruise Med congress, to be held on September 19 and 20, 2018, and which this year will form part of the recently announced Portugal Shipping Week. Promoted by the Port Authority of Lisbon, the event is supported by MedCruise and CLIA, and will feature an engaging program of conferences and networking opportunities, as well as an exhibition area where more than 70 ports will showcase their best offerings to attract the attention of cruise line executives.
To date, 29 of the 150 cruise line executives expected have confirmed their attendance, representing companies such as AIDA Cruises, Azamara, Carnival UK, Disney Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Mystic Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, Sea Cloud Cruise Line, Silversea, TUI, and Viking Ocean Cruises. Additionally, the MedCruise General Assembly will take place on September 21.
As part of the event, attendees will have the opportunity to visit Lisbon's new cruise terminal, which began operations at the end of 2017. Lisbon Cruise Port, the terminal's operator and part of Global Ports Holding, invested approximately €22 million in the building, which includes 360 parking spaces, 80 bus and taxi bays, boarding bridges, and up to seven scanner lines. The terminal's berth length is 1,490 meters.
