The Port of Barcelona will participate in Seatrade Cruise Global 2018, the world's leading cruise industry event, which will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from March 6 to 8. As in previous years, the Port will share a stand with Cruceros del Port de Barcelona and Palacruceros, who will jointly present the services Barcelona offers to the cruise industry.
The Port of Barcelona delegation to the event will be headed by the Head of Cruises, Mar Pérez; the Deputy Director General of Strategy and Commercial Affairs, Santiago Garcia-Milà; and the Director of
Communication and Institutional Relations, Núria Burguera. During the three days of the trade fair and the four days of conferences, the Port of Barcelona representatives will explain the latest developments, projects, and improvements being implemented at the Catalan port in areas such as terminals, access, sustainability, and more.
The Port of Barcelona delegation will present the various initiatives underway to improve services in this industry and facilitate sustainable growth. Specifically, they will present the new infrastructure development project for the Adossat dock, the result of a recent agreement between the City Council and the Port of Barcelona.
Sustainability is another of Barcelona's strengths in this area. The Port is implementing specific initiatives aimed at facilitating sustainable growth in the sector, both through environmental measures, included in the Port of Barcelona's Air Quality Improvement Plan, and by promoting efficient cruise passenger mobility management.
More than 2.7 million cruise passengers
In 2017, the Port of Barcelona handled 2.7 million cruise passengers, a 1% increase over the previous year. These figures continue to position
Barcelona as the leading cruise port in Europe and the Mediterranean. Representatives from the Port of Barcelona will hold a press conference on Tuesday, June 6th, at 12:30 pm to explain the main developments in the cruise sector planned for 2018.
The Port will also participate in the “Trends in the Med 2017” presentation, which will take place on the same day at 2:30 p.m., organized by MedCruise, the Mediterranean cruise association.
Seatrade Cruise Global 2018, organized by CLIA and the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), brings together leading executives, professionals, and institutions involved in the cruise industry for three days, offering a comprehensive program that includes a specialized trade show and a series of conferences tailored to the sector's needs. This year's edition boasts over 11,000 registered attendees, more than 700 exhibiting companies from 113 countries, and over 300 international journalists specializing in the industry.
