Southampton, November 16, 2017 – Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced the name of its newest ship, due for delivery in the first quarter of 2020. The second ship in the Explorer class will continue the elegance, style, and luxury that its predecessor, the Seven Seas Explorer, showcased as the most luxurious ship ever built when it launched in 2016.
“Choosing a ship’s name is a significant milestone in maritime tradition, and it is a pleasure to announce that the name of Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ newest ship, launching in 2020, is Seven Seas Splendor,” said Jason Montague, President and CEO of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “The extraordinary demand for Seven Seas Explorer has reinforced our decision to expand the fleet, and Seven Seas Splendor will offer guests a fifth choice, providing unforgettable experiences in the world’s finest destinations with incredibly high standards of luxury and service that will make our guests want to return time and time again.”
As part of the naming process, Regent Seven Seas Cruises consulted with its travel agents, customers, and employees throughout September. Seven Seas Splendor was chosen from 2,600 unique names submitted in 14,000 entries.
The new ship will have all suite cabins with balconies, and a size of 55,254 gross tons and capacity for 750 guests.
