Monte Carlo, Monaco, September 11, 2017 – Silversea Cruises and Fincantieri have signed a contract worth approximately 310 million euros for the construction of a new ultra-luxury cruise ship that will join the shipowner's fleet in 2020.
The new ship, provisionally named “Silver Moon,” will be the sister ship of the “Silver Muse,” scheduled for delivery in April at the Sestri Ponente shipyard (Genoa). With a gross tonnage of 40,700 and a capacity for 596 passengers, it will combine the intimacy of smaller ships with the spacious suites that are a hallmark of the Silversea brand.
This new ship will bring the Silversea fleet to 10 vessels. Once operational, it will significantly raise the bar in the ultra-luxury cruise segment with a wide range of enhancements to the onboard experience, satisfying the highest demands for comfort, service, and quality from even the most discerning passengers.
Among the optional features of the new vessel, the “Green Star 3 Design” stands out. This system is intended for vessels designed, built, and equipped to prevent air and water pollution. In addition, the “COMF-NOISE A PAX” and “COMF-NOISE B CREW” systems are based on noise levels measured on board. The results have confirmed the exceptionally high level of comfort offered to passengers.
