Silversea has opened applications for its leadership training academy, designed to recruit and develop top talent to join its expedition teams. Each expedition voyage includes a team of experts, some of the world's most knowledgeable and experienced specialists in fields such as wildlife, biology, anthropology, geology, history, and more. These experts deliver lectures, lead workshops, guide Zodiac® trips, nature walks, and other activities designed to ensure an enriching experience for guests.
Multidisciplinary learning begins with the development of skills through webinars focused on various aspects such as expedition guide work, including life at sea, and guest relations.
The practical component will include courses in boat handling, first aid, and maritime safety. Participants will be invited to practice for approximately six weeks aboard the newly refurbished Silver Cloud when the ship joins the expedition fleet in mid-November for its first season in Antarctica.
On board Silver Cloud, core competencies will be further developed through intensive practical training. Attention will also be given to cross-disciplinary training in various academic fields, environmental and ecological knowledge, sustainability protocols, and cultural sensitivity, as well as further skills development including boat handling, practical first aid, and training leadership. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced expedition staff as well as additional educators traveling on board the vessel.
After successfully completing a tiered system of increasing responsibility, participants will have the opportunity to work during the Antarctic season as expedition team members and, ultimately, on expedition trips to other regions of the world.
