The Saga Pearl II cruise ship will return to Castellón this Saturday morning with 500 passengers on board, most of them British. This is not the first time this company has chosen Castellón as a cruise destination. It first docked in Castellón on October 7, 2011, and returned in 2013 with two more calls, the ship having been renamed Quest for Adventure.
This company has also already arranged with the port of Castellón to receive another cruise ship in 2018, the Saga Sapphire.
The Saga Pearl II cruise ship is scheduled to arrive at the port of Castellón early this morning. Once in port, approximately 154 tourists have opted for one of the offered excursions: the San José caves in La Vall d'Uixó, Peñíscola, and Valencia. The rest have chosen to explore Castellón. A total of four shuttle buses have been arranged for this purpose—three for passengers and one for the crew—to ensure they can travel quickly and comfortably to the city center throughout the day.
It should be noted that a meeting was held this morning between the institutions that make up the Cruise Promotion Committee to finalize all preparations and coordinate all the necessary actions for the arrival. The Committee was created in 2009 and is comprised of the tourism boards of the Castellón City Council and the Castellón Provincial Council, the Castellón Chamber of Commerce, the Valencian Tourism Agency, the PortCastelló Foundation, and the Castellón Port Authority.
It should be remembered that the Port of Castellón inaugurated a dock for cruise ships in 2011, located on the extension of the East Dock, with 350 linear meters of docking and 16 meters of draft.
