Pullmantur Cruises has begun its season at the Port of Malaga, where it will operate 16 cruises this year. These will see approximately 13,500 passengers embark on their voyage aboard the Horizon in Malaga, joined by more than 5,000 guests arriving from Alicante to explore the city's attractions.
It is estimated that the economic impact of Pullmantur Cruises' activity in Malaga this year will exceed €2,600,000. This estimate takes into account the average spending of a passenger in a port of embarkation and in transit (€81 and €62 respectively) and of the crew (€23). Port fees, port and service contracts, supplies, and other related costs would need to be added to this figure.
Richard J. Vogel, President and CEO of Pullmantur Cruises, notes that “the start of our operations in the wonderful city of Málaga will provide a significant boost to the local economy, which is so closely linked to tourism.” He adds, “I am absolutely convinced that the beauty and magic of Málaga will captivate our guests.”.
The four routes operated by Pullmantur Cruises aboard the Horizon, with Malaga as their port of embarkation, are:
- Legends of the Mediterranean, an itinerary designed for guests who want to combine Spanish and Italian culture.
- Waterland, a themed cruise for electronic music lovers. With a unique departure, clubs from the national techno scene (Madrid's Fabrik and Ibiza's Café Mambo Ibiza), and Barcelona's elrow, collaborate by contributing their themed shows, entertainment, and the vibrant rhythms of their national and international artists.
- Heading to the Greek Islands and Escape to Greece, two routes that connect Malaga with Greece and allow the guest to discover cities and places that contrast with each other but share the Mediterranean tradition.
The Horizon has arrived at the Port of Malaga, refurbished after spending three weeks in shipyard. There, it underwent maintenance and overhaul work and was equipped with 'The Waves Yacht Club,' a premium and exclusive space dedicated to the most discerning passengers. Guests in Suite cabins can enjoy a lounge and an exclusive area on the sundeck.
