The Port Authority of Ceuta has closed the first ten months of this year with the arrival of fifteen cruise ships, which has meant an increase of more than 1,100 percent in passenger traffic in this sector.
Ceuta has received fifteen cruise ships and a total of 19,259 cruise passengers between January and October compared to seven calls and 1,587 cruise passengers in the previous year of 2015, that is, an increase of 114.29 percent in calls and 1,113.55 percent in passengers compared to 2015.
The numbers were achieved after the month of October this year closed with four stops and 6,492 passengers compared to the three stops and 977 passengers recorded in October 2015.
The port of Ceuta closed the 2015 cruise season as one of the worst in terms of tourist traffic on board these ships, receiving only four calls.
Ceuta experienced its cruise boom in 2008 with 25 calls after the 20 calls in 2007, going to ten calls in 2009, eight in 2010, six in 2011, another seven in 2012 until reaching four and three in the last two years.
