Princess Cruises has announced that Emmanuel Renaut, three-Michelin-starred chef and former head chef of Claridge's in London, will be in charge of a new restaurant on the Majestic Princess. 'La Mer – Un Bistro français de Emmanuel Renaut' will be available on the company's newest ship, which will be launched in April 2017.
Renaut is the chef of the Flocons de Sel restaurant, located in the French village of Megève. Flocons de Sel was awarded its third Michelin star in 2012. It had earned its first in 2004 and its second in 2006. Before opening his restaurant in 1998, Renaut cooked at restaurants such as Claridge, the Hotel Crillon, and Auberge de l'Eridan.
La Mer will offer the experience of a Parisian bistro and will be located in the ship's atrium.
The Majestic Princess will have its permanent homeport in China after a season in the Mediterranean in April and May of 2017. It will be the only China-based ship to offer two special menus designed by a Michelin-starred chef. In addition, Chef Richard Chen will create Cantonese dishes for the 'Harmony' restaurant.
Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises, stated: “Having Chef Renaut on board the Majestic Princess enhances the dining experience and takes it to an even higher level, reinforcing our leading position as the best cruise line for gourmets.”.
Chef Renaut said: “What I love most about my work is that gastronomic experiences touch people’s emotions. I have worked with enthusiasm to design special and flavorful dishes, and I am very proud of the menu I have created for dinner, which will be served in an elegant setting. I am delighted to bring a new and authentic experience to the French bistro at the Majestic Princess.”
La Mer will also offer lunch and breakfast created by Princess' culinary teams.
