Ferrol is receiving its last two scheduled cruise ships in October. The first, the "Aida Sol," arrived from the French port of Le Havre with 3,000 passengers and crew. It is scheduled to return in August 2017, demonstrating the German cruise line Aida Cruises' commitment to the city.
The “Aida Sol” is the eighth ship in the Aida fleet and was christened in April 2011. It is the fifth ship in the Sphinx series, preceded by its “sisters” “Aida Diva”, “Aida Bella”, “Aida Luna”, “Aida Blu” and followed by “Aida Mar”.
The “Saga Sapphire” will also arrive, making its second stop this year, with two more scheduled for December. Sailing from the British port of Southampton and bound for Arrecife, the cruise ship will bring 1,100 passengers to Ferrol. This passenger vessel has belonged to the Saga Cruises company since November 2010, and underwent a major refurbishment at the end of 2011. On its maiden voyage in April 2012, Ferrol was the first city it visited.

The Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority carries out intense commercial and tourism promotion activity at the most important cruise fairs in the world, such as Seatrade Cruise Global.
The goal of the APFSC is to consolidate the figure of 40,000 cruise passengers per year, and to achieve this, it will also continue to maintain a permanent collaboration with other administrations - such as the Xunta de Galicia, the Provincial Council of A Coruña and the Ferrol City Council - and business associations.
