The “Artania”, launched in 1984 as the Royal Princess in honor of its godmother, Princess Diana of Wales, was the world's first cruise ship with all outside cabins. In 2005, it was acquired by the British company P&O and since 2011 has been part of the German company Phoenix Reisen, which has once again chosen Ferrol as a port of call for this ship. Having sailed from the port of Le Havre, the “Artania” is scheduled to depart for Leixões.

During their stay in the city, the 1,500 passengers and crew on board will be able to learn about the history, gastronomy, and natural attractions of Ferrol and its surrounding region, including a stop at the Naval Construction Museum. With the visit of the “Artania,” the Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority concludes the month with the highest number of transit passengers recorded in 2016, exceeding 10,300.

Ferrol expects five cruise ships to call in October. The first will be the “Boudicca,” followed by the “Aida Aura” and the “Black Watch.” The “Aida Sol” and the “Saga Sapphire” are scheduled to visit at the end of the month.

By the end of the year, the APFSC expects to receive a total of seven cruise ships with more than 10,400 passengers and crew on board, demonstrating the consolidation of this type of traffic in the port of Ferrol.
