Silversea, the leading ultra-luxury cruise line, is pleased to announce the largest fleet refurbishment plan in its history, valued at $170 million. This investment not only addresses Silversea's self-imposed maintenance requirements but also reaffirms the company's commitment to its guests to maintain timeless elegance and exceptional levels of comfort.

The Silver Whisper, home to the iconic World Cruise, will undergo a refurbishment by the end of 2016, heavily influenced by feedback from World Cruise guests, demonstrating that Silversea guests are truly at the heart of the company’s operations. This also ensures that in 2017, World Cruise guests will experience an environment of superior luxury and will be the first to feel the fresh, understated glamour for which the brand is known.
The luxurious suites will be refurbished, and the bathrooms will be adorned with dark Emperador marble floors, conveying a tangible sense of elegance that can be felt from head to toe. The public areas will be the main beneficiaries of the upgrade, where a newly tiled pool and new chaise lounges will create new levels of comfort and style in the outdoor spaces. The Restaurant and La Terrazza dining areas will be refurbished with new carpeting and elegant hardwood parquet flooring, respectively, and each will be furnished with new furniture, reflecting the contemporary glamour present throughout the ship and enhancing the high-quality service alongside the finest culinary offerings at sea.
Finally, the Silver Whisper's communications center is set for a thorough overhaul with the addition of two satellite dishes, greatly improving onboard internet speeds and allowing guests to take full advantage of the new interactive televisions and pay-per-view movies available in every suite.
The refurbishment program extends to the Silver Wind during its scheduled dry-dock overhaul in October 2016. Once again, the restoration of furnishings and furniture, along with technological upgrades, including interactive televisions and on-demand movies, complete the more modern, yet understated, levels of luxury in all suites. In addition, La Terrazza and the ship's Main Restaurant will feature new flooring, enhancing the overall sense of culinary excellence on board.
The pool deck will undergo a program focused on removing and replacing one of its aesthetic gems: the exceptional teak flooring. This will transform the deck area into one of the most vibrant onboard, more akin to a luxury yacht than a cruise ship, and reaffirming the Silver Wind's status as a true classic within the Silversea fleet.
Beyond the classic fleet, the Silver Discoverer will also benefit from this investment during 2016, entering dry-dock this October. While the service and presentation of the suites will, of course, adhere strictly to Silversea's high standards, it is in the public areas of this Expedition ship where guests will see the most noticeable changes. The restaurant will be refurbished with a more modern and lighter color palette, and the always popular poolside grill area will boast new furnishings. The Discoverer Lounge will undergo a major transformation, evolving from a breakfast spot into a sophisticated lounge for relaxing, reading, and reflecting on the day's excursions. Silversea continues to enhance the expedition experience for the benefit of its guests, as illustrated by increased investment in new audiovisual technology in the Explorer Lounge and new furnishings for enjoying conferences and briefings in unparalleled comfort.
