The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) has granted a concession to the company La Línea City Port SL for the construction and operation of a megayacht and cruise ship base inside the basin sheltered by the San Felipe dock, in the port facilities of La Línea, to the east of the Bay of Algeciras.
As the president of the Port Authority, Manuel Morón, has pointed out, this is a project designed to accommodate vessels with lengths exceeding 30 meters.
Freight traffic grew by 3.5 percent, passengers by 3.1 percent, and ships by 7.6 percent.
The board addressed the port's activity up to May, with a total accumulated traffic of 43.2 million tons of goods (+7.9%) and a container traffic of 1.96 million TEUs (+14.5%).
Among other variables, it highlighted the number of container ships operated in the port, with 1,507 units (+25.2%), or the truck traffic on the Strait lines, with 149,617 units (+10.1%), of which 128,938 used the Algeciras-Tangier Med line.
