CLIA holds its 2016 technical and regulatory forum

More than 100 delegates gathered in London to discuss technical and regulatory aspects of the industry, including public health, the environment, technology, innovation, and safety. The CLIA Technical and Regulatory Forum included the participation of members and executive partners, as well as international regulators such as Ambassador Arsenio A. Domínguez, Chairman of the Marine Environment Protection Committee at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Participants contribute in a committed way to CLIA's work at the IMO, the European Union and other regulators around the world, ensuring that cruise operations remain safe and sustainable while the industry continues to grow.

During the day, several sessions took place, including:

• Public health – Delegates discussed best practices and the most effective efforts to reduce the chances of virus outbreaks.

• Environmental protection - Participants discussed compliance with international cruise regulations, as well as the solutions the industry is implementing to reduce environmental impact.

• Safety – Delegates discussed the range of initiatives and solutions to ensure safety, from swimming pools to the security of ports where they make stopovers.
