Twenty-five years ago, in 1991, Star Clippers launched its first ship, the "Star Flyer," a recreation of classic 19th-century sailing ships. The company has decided that the best way to celebrate its silver anniversary is to provide its fleet and guests with a new sailing ship.
Star Clippers has announced the name of its fourth ship, which will be launched in late 2017.
The Flying Clipper will be the largest and most ambitious in the Clipper fleet to date, capable of accommodating 300 passengers.
It is a replica similar to the France II, which was commissioned in 1911 at the La Gironde shipyard in Bordeaux, which was the largest square-rigged sailing ship ever built.
Star Clippers ships will sail the Mediterranean during the summer months and arrive in the Caribbean and Cuba for the winter, with a new route through Asia beginning in December 2016. In the summer of 2017, Star Clippers will make history again by sailing to Indonesia for the first time with 19 calls between May 6 and October 14, 2017, on 7, 10, 11, and 14-night voyages from Bali to Singapore.
In addition, 10 new routes from Havana to Cienfuegos will be offered in 2016/17, while the Royal Clipper will continue its Caribbean itineraries during the winter of 2016/17.
The new ship, Flying Clipper, will feature three swimming pools, a water sports platform, 34 suites with balconies, and four luxurious private suites. It will also include a restaurant in its upper atrium and a glass-walled bar. Guests will also enjoy the amenities of the Star Clippers fleet (its library, bowsprit, tropical bar, etc.).
