Tauck River Cruises: The History of Chicago - Prohibition, Architecture and Jazz.

Tauck River Cruises is preparing a five-day event in Chicago to explore its history, taking place from September 19-23, 2016.
The luxury cruise operator Tauck, in collaboration with documentary filmmaker Ken Burns (America's David Attenborough), will launch a spectacular five-day event in Chicago exploring three of America's most celebrated phenomena : the Prohibition era, jazz, and the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright.
The launch coincides with Ken Burns' award for best documentary series for "Prohibition," which will be broadcast on national television this month. The film's themes will also be incorporated into Tauck's five-day tour in September 2016. During the voyage, Tauck guests will hear Ken Burns share his thoughts and insights and will also have the opportunity to chat with him during a private reception at the iconic Chicago Theatre.
The event, with a capacity for 200 people, will include a presentation by Jonathan Eig (New York Times bestselling author) of his book, "Prohibition and Al Capone." Guests will learn how to make classic Prohibition-era drinks and will have the opportunity to raise a glass or two in celebration of the repeal of Prohibition. All of this will take place in the InterContinental Chicago Grand Ballroom, where there will be music and dinner.
On a sightseeing tour, " Beer Wars: The Roaring Twenties," guests will visit various locations in Chicago to learn about the history of Prohibition, using information provided about the global history of organized crime and gangsters. They will travel to the West Side to explore Pilsen, a Czech neighborhood that helped popularize beer in America. On the North Side, they will visit Clark Street, the site of the infamous St. Valentine's Day Massacre. After visiting one of Chicago's Prohibition-era speakeasies, they'll travel to the Biograph Theatre, which is connected to the death of John Dillinger.
Another highlight is a trip to Oak Park to experience Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural legacy with a visit to his home and studio. Local experts will help guests discover the diverse influences that have shaped Chicago's cultural and historical life, including visits to the Jazz Age and a private cruise along the Chicago River.
