Royal Caribbean reveals the name of the musical aboard the Harmony of the Seas: Grease

The electrifying Broadway hit is coming to the Independence of the Seas!
The Rydell High students are embarking on a Royal Caribbean International cruise! The first cruise line to feature Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals has announced that the Broadway musical “Grease” will take to the stage on the Harmony of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest ship launching this spring and sailing weekly from Barcelona. The show will also be featured on the Independence of the Seas, which operates from Southampton, UK.
The spectacular production, specially adapted by Royal Caribbean Productions, will bring back familiar hits like “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’,” “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee,” “Born to Hand-Jive,” “Beauty School Dropout,” and many more.
“Grease is a show for all ages that will have audiences on their feet with its dances and iconic songs. That’s why we’ve decided to premiere it aboard two of our ships, Harmony of the Seas and Independence of the Seas,” said Nick Weir, Vice President of Entertainment for Royal Caribbean International.
In Grease, Sandy Dumbrowski, the new girl in town, and Danny Zuko, the coolest guy in high school, have a secret summer romance – but when school starts, everything has changed. Sandy tries to win Danny back, but he prefers to maintain his tough-guy image. In the end, with the help of the Pink Ladies, Sandy finds a way to win back the leader of the T-Birds.
As part of its commitment to offering award-winning Broadway productions at sea, Royal Caribbean is also bringing the greatest hits of the legendary rock band Queen to its passengers with “We Will Rock You” aboard Anthem of the Seas; The timeless songs of ABBA in MAMMA MIA! on the Allure of the Seas; CATS, one of the most popular musicals in history, on the Oasis of the Seas; the infectious rhythms of disco with Saturday Night Fever on the Liberty of the Seas; and now, Grease, aboard the Harmony of the Seas and the Independence of the Seas.
The Harmony of the Seas will bring together the most spectacular innovations that Royal Caribbean has implemented on its ships, both in entertainment and services, all designed to surprise passengers time and again. From sliding down the tallest slide at sea and exploring exciting new destinations to dining in the most imaginative cuisine, the Harmony of the Seas is not just a cruise; it's an adventure in itself.
The ship will feature 16 decks, a gross tonnage of 227,000, capacity for 5,497 passengers at double occupancy, and 2,747 staterooms. In addition, like other Oasis-class ships, it will feature seven unique neighborhoods including Central Park, Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, pools and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone.
