Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas begins a new stage in its construction

The exterior construction of what will soon be one of the world's largest cruise ships, the Harmony of the Seas, was completed last week at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The newest member of Royal Caribbean International's Oasis class (the world's largest) has taken another step toward its debut in April 2016. With the exterior finished, the Harmony of the Seas has completed its dry dock phase and, now in the water, will begin the next stage: interior construction.
Once completed, the Harmony of the Seas will sail 7-night Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona during its inaugural season before relocating to Fort Lauderdale in November 2016, where it will offer Caribbean cruises. The Harmony of the Seas will feature 7 neighborhoods, 20 restaurants, and a crew of 2,394.
Future passengers aboard Harmony of the Seas will enjoy exciting new amenities such as three waterslides with varying trajectories, a Bionic Bar staffed by robot bartenders (a first feature on Quantum of the Seas), and Voom, the internet connection that will allow passengers to instantly share their vacations and experiences on social media.
Harmony of the Seas will feature 16 decks, a gross tonnage of 227,000, a capacity for 5,479 passengers at double occupancy, and 2,747 staterooms. Like other Oasis-class ships, it will also boast seven distinct neighborhoods, including Central Park, Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, pools and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place, and Youth Zone.
