El Salvador will host the III Central American Cruise Summit starting tomorrow, which will receive 200 representatives from the international industry, an official source reported.
The III Central American Cruise Summit, which will run until next Friday, will bring together representatives from the 7 countries of the region with the purpose of “doing business and establishing new tourist destinations,” the Ministry of Tourism (ISTU) said in a statement.
For two days, El Salvador will host more than 200 representatives from the Central American cruise industry, tourism ministers, port authorities, and representatives from the private sector, he added.
“El Salvador has a first-rate port infrastructure, with special areas for cruise passengers and nearby tourist destinations, characteristics that some countries do not have and which represent a potential for the country,” noted the Minister of Tourism, José Napoleón Duarte.
The summit will be attended by Michele Paige and Adam Ceserano, president and vice president, respectively, of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), as well as representatives from Royal Caribbean Cruises, Holland America Group, Disney Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Carnival Corporation.
Prior to the meeting, FCCA executives and members will have the opportunity to get to know El Salvador, “visiting tourist sites, archaeological sites and other tourist attractions,” the official information added.
The objective of the visits will be "to learn firsthand about the country's installed capacity to receive and serve cruise ships."
