Executives from the world's leading cruise lines recognize the strength of the destination at Cruise Shipping, the world's most important cruise trade show
The Malaga delegation concludes the Miami event today with very good prospects for 2016, as almost all the airlines have announced new routes
Málaga continues to reap success at Cruise Shipping Miami, the world's most important trade fair dedicated to the cruise industry. In fact, executives from the world's leading cruise lines have awarded the city prizes for best destination experience and best tour guides on excursions, highlighting the quality of Málaga's tourism offerings and the professionalism of its workers.
These awards are given annually by the international cruise magazine Cruise Insight, based on votes cast by cruise line executives, making them a significant recognition for the destination. In fact, along with Málaga, only two other ports worldwide have received awards in each category: Cádiz and Livorno (Italy) for tourist guides; and Boracay (Philippines) and Hualien (Taiwan) for destination experiences.
It should also be noted that, as demonstrated in the trade visits carried out last February to the main shipping companies in the USA by a delegation from Malaga made up of the Port Authority, Malagaport, the Tourism Area of the Malaga City Council, Malaga Costa del Sol Tourism and Malaga Cruises, Malaga is among the top ten destinations in Europe.
This is according to surveys conducted by the cruise lines themselves among their passengers after visiting the destination, as reported by company representatives during meetings held last week in the United States. In fact, according to the RCL Group (Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, Pullmantur), Málaga has a satisfaction rating of 8.8 out of 10. Meanwhile, Norwegian Cruise Line reports a 2014 rating of 7.9 out of 10, placing the port and the destination in the top 10 in Europe for its cruise passengers.
Representatives from various Malaga institutions linked to this sector are participating these days in Cruise Shipping Miami, which this year celebrates its thirty-first edition, thanks to the collaboration of the Malaga Port Authority, from whose stand they are addressing the attending professionals to inform them about the city's port infrastructure and the tourist and cultural attractions offered by the capital and the Costa del Sol.
The world's largest cruise fair closes its doors today with positive expectations for Malaga. In fact, the cruise lines operating in the Malaga port have announced an increase in port calls for 2016. For example, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Azamara will make 26 calls in Malaga in 2016, compared to the ten they made in 2013. Similarly, Holland America Line, which made eight calls in the capital of the Costa del Sol last year, has announced that it will make 24 in 2016.
