Star Clippers was founded in 1989 by Mikael Krafft, a shipbuilding entrepreneur. Initially, it operated with two identical four-masted brigs: the 360-foot Star Flyer, launched in 1991, and its sister ship, Star Clipper, launched in 1992. In 2000, Krafft added a third sailing ship, the 400-foot, five-masted, square-rigged Royal Clipper, with 42 sails. It is the largest sailing ship of its kind in the world. Passengers can enjoy the tranquility of a large sailing vessel in a relaxed atmosphere while experiencing high-quality service, elegant dining, complimentary water sports, and attentive crew. All three ships also feature small swimming pools, a tropical deck bar, and a comfortable piano bar. They are also large enough to offer first-class accommodation, yet small enough to dock in intimate locations and exceptional ports, allowing access to places inaccessible to larger ships. Star Flyer and Star Clipper each accommodate 170 passengers, while Royal Clipper has a capacity of 227 passengers.
