Cruise line executives, tour operators and industry experts enjoyed an evening themed around Ancient Rome yesterday.
Yesterday, Monday, January 19th, the speakers who will participate in the Winter Cruising Forum on January 21st and 22nd began arriving. Upon checking into their hotel, they embarked on an experience that transported them to ancient Carthago Nova.
Outside the hotel, a Roman chariot (a biga) was used to welcome them in Latin (and English) and direct them to the Roman Theatre Museum. After visiting the museum, they entered the Roman theatre, where they were treated to a gladiatorial combat performance on the theatre's stage.
Afterward, they enjoyed a dinner with an ancient Roman theme at the La Catedral restaurant, concluding the evening with a performance by the Celt Mercenaries pipers.
Today, Tuesday the 20th, the group of speakers has a familiarization trip (fam trip) scheduled to Cartagena and Murcia, which will allow them to explore the cultural, tourist, and commercial offerings of both cities.
Throughout today, all the delegates attending the Winter Cruising Forum, which begins tomorrow, will be arriving in Cartagena. This evening at 8:00 p.m., the Mayor of Cartagena will host a welcome cocktail reception for them at the City Hall.
Approximately 150 delegates have registered; around 100 are Spanish (delegations from ports in the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Andalusia, etc., tourism offices, city councils, businesses, and a significant number from universities in the Region of Murcia), and the remaining 50 come from various countries: the United Kingdom, Norway, France, the United States, Portugal, Italy, Germany, etc.
The official opening of the Seatrade Winter Cruising Forum will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, January 21, at 9:00 a.m. in the El Batel Auditorium, with the presence of the President of the Region of Murcia, Alberto Garre.
