The Port of Cadiz expects to break its cruise ship record in 2015 with 303 announced calls

2014 ends with the highest number of cruise passengers in history.

The Port of Cadiz Bay expects to break its own cruise record next year, with 303 calls already announced, which also represents a 9 percent increase compared to the current year.

2014 also closes with a record number of passengers, with a provisional total of 380,823 cruise passengers to date, to which must be added the passengers of the two calls announced for the next December 27 and 29, which could raise this number to 385,000, not counting the crew, which would be around 130,000 people.

 This balance represents a 2 percent increase in the number of cruise passengers, although the number of port calls has been reduced by 6 percent compared to 2013, with 278 port calls compared to 296.

May 2015 will be a particularly busy month, with a record-breaking 49 port calls in a single month. This is followed by April, with 43 announced calls; September, with 36; and October, with 35.

The calendar also marks four days with intense activity: May 4 and May 11 with five simultaneous stopovers planned, and April 21 and October 21, with four at the same time.

It's important to remember the socioeconomic impact that cruise ship traffic has on the surrounding area. It's estimated that the average expenditure per passenger per day is around €60, and that of the crew, €23, resulting in an impact of almost €26 million.
