The event will be held on Wednesday, November 26, at 4 p.m.
The President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and the Minister of Public Works, Ana Pastor, will preside over the official presentation of the Outer Port to the institutions and the industrial, economic, and social fabric of A Coruña and its surrounding area next Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The event will include the laying of the foundation stone for the breakwater of the new Punta Langosteira dock, which already has established traffic and is undergoing the relocation process for operators with significant concessions already granted, as well as the initial construction of industrial facilities.
Representatives from central, regional, and local government, as well as officials from public and private institutions, business, professional, and social organizations, have been invited to the event. Numerous members of the A Coruña port community will also be in attendance, from clients and operators to engineers from the construction companies involved in the project and the Port Authority's management team.
The breakwater is a crucial piece of infrastructure for the Outer Port of A Coruña, as it will complete the protection of the basin and allow for the construction of new docks. Following the completion of the first phase, 450 meters long, the Port Authority's Board of Directors has awarded the contract for the second phase, which will extend the breakwater by another 900 meters, completing its total length, with an investment of 36 million euros.
The outer layer of the breakwater is composed of concrete blocks called cubipods, developed through an R&D project involving the University of Valencia and SATO, a company belonging to the OHL group. Their design allows for cost savings and improved structural protection.
