October is one of the busiest months for cruise passengers, with 13 scheduled port calls and a large influx of travelers due to the size of the ships.
A new multi-ship port call is planned for the 23rd, potentially bringing over 10,000 passengers, with the return of the Independence of the Seas, which will coincide with the arrival of the Azura and the Funchal.
The Port of A Coruña will receive two cruise ships tomorrow, Saturday, with the arrival of the Independence of the Seas and the Discovery, carrying a total of 6,000 passengers and crew. The Independence of the Seas, one of the world's largest cruise ships, will make its first call of the year in the city at 10:00 AM at the Transatlantic Pier, arriving from Madeira. With 3,900 passengers and 1,300 crew members on board, it is scheduled to depart for Southampton at 4:00 PM. The Discovery, carrying approximately 700 passengers and 300 crew members, is scheduled to dock at 7:00 AM at the Calvo Sotelo South Pier. Arriving from Portimão, Portugal, it will depart for Bristol at 1:00 PM.

These figures confirm that the cruise sector continues to boom in the city following the record-breaking results achieved last year, when more than one hundred port calls were recorded. The latest statistics on this traffic, covering the period from January 1st to September 30th, show a total of 88,804 passengers across 66 port calls. Regarding the forecast for the fourth quarter of 2014, the number of passengers is estimated at around 40,000 aboard 23 ships, so everything points to the current year closing with equally impressive figures, maintaining the Cantabrian-Atlantic coast's leading position in the number of port calls.
