AmaWaterways appoints Steve Spivak as Chief Commercial Officer, effective September 30.
The appointment represents an evolution in AmaWaterways' management structure, as the company continues to consolidate its growth in the luxury river cruise market. Spivak has nearly three decades of experience in senior positions within the tourism and hospitality sectors, as well as extensive experience in developing business relationships, managing teams, and creating customer experiences.
In her new role, Spivak will lead AmaWaterways' Sales, Global Service and Reservations, and Revenue Management teams, integrating these areas under a unified business strategy. Her key objectives will include supporting the company's growth and strengthening relationships with travel agents, strategic partners, and passengers.
“Steve brings a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for travel, people, and the relationships that make this industry so special,” said Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways. “His extensive background in the luxury travel and hospitality sectors, coupled with his deep understanding of the importance of delivering exceptional service and building strong partnerships, makes him an ideal addition to the AmaWaterways leadership team.”.
Prior to joining AmaWaterways, Spivak spent 14 years at Tauck, most recently serving as Vice President of Global Sales and Customer Experience. During this time, he held various commercial and customer-related responsibilities in areas such as sales, marketing, public relations, customer experience, and strategic partnerships. He also developed relationships with travel agents and business partners in several international markets.
Previously, Spivak was Vice President of Global Sales for Loews Hotels. Early in his career, he held various sales and marketing management positions at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, where he gained extensive experience in the hotel industry.
Spivak began his professional career as an entrepreneur, creating and managing various concepts related to the restaurant and hospitality industry. He later served as an associate professor at the Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism at New York University (NYU).
“What impressed me most about AmaWaterways was its commitment to people, partnerships, and customer experience,” said Spivak. “AmaWaterways has built an outstanding reputation through its experiences and strong relationships with its travel agents, passengers, and industry partners. I look forward to working closely with the team and our agent community to further develop this foundation and continue growing the company.”.
