Last Thursday, April 25th, we had the pleasure of visiting the Celebrity Ascent, the newest ship in Celebrity Cruises, the latest of the Edge Class.
Having previously visited Malaga, on April 27th it arrived in Barcelona to set sail for the first time in Europe and explore the Mediterranean, giving passengers the opportunity to discover each destination in this region with incredible coastlines, culture and gastronomy, all combined with the comfort and facilities provided by the Celebrity Ascent.
Facilities
With its cutting-edge, modern design, the Ascent offers comfort and exclusivity akin to a resort at sea. However, to maintain the feeling of being on board a ship, the connection to the sea is ever-present on the Ascent's decks.
One of the unique features offered only by Celebrity Cruises' Edge Class is the "Magic Carpet," a cantilevered platform that rises 14 stories above the water, providing a terrace-like space for specialty dinners, tasting menus, and other events. It's even used for boat trips to destinations like Santorini, for which it was originally designed.
As for wellness and relaxation, the ship of course includes "The Spa" with more than 120 treatments available and a 100% equipped gym, and with the possibility of receiving private classes in crossfit and other disciplines.
Furthermore, the ship combines luxury and relaxation for couples and solo travelers with entertainment for families with children and teenagers. From family pools for all ages to a solarium for those over 16.
In fact, the ship has more than 500 activities in the "Camp at Sea" program for children and video game tournaments and sports competitions for teenagers in the "Teen Club".
Another highlight is its extensive and exclusive culinary program. The ship offers a gastronomic experience with redesigned restaurants, immersive dining, and expanded food and cocktail menus…
The three-story Eden restaurant, with its floor-to-ceiling windows offering views from the rooftop, features a casual cafe, cocktail bar, entertainment space, outdoor terrace, and signature restaurant, all of which come alive at night with a fusion of music and performances.
In addition, with all Edge series ships, Celebrity has added a new dining concept, expanding from one main dining room to four main restaurants, each offering a different style of cuisine with signature dishes.
On board the Ascent, travelers will continue to enjoy the choice of New American cuisine at the Cosmopolitan restaurant; Mediterranean cuisine at Cyprus; contemporary French cuisine at Normandie; and Italian cuisine at Tuscan.
It also has other specialty restaurants not included, or depending on the suite rate, such as Raw on 5, specializing in Japanese cuisine, Blu and one of the great new additions to the culinary scene: the Le Petit Chef restaurant.
Where world-renowned Skullmapping artists have brought their custom 3D animation art form to the tables of this restaurant. This dining experience is choreographed with an elegant menu created by a Michelin-starred chef.
Mediterranean Itineraries
The first itinerary of its European season is a 9-night cruise sailing along the coasts of the Italian Riviera and France, visiting destinations such as La Spezia, Florence and Pisa.
It will be offering a variety of seven- to twelve-night cruises exploring the Mediterranean, departing from ports throughout Europe, including Barcelona, Spain; Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy; and Athens (Piraeus), Greece.
Guests will also visit Ephesus (Kusadasi) and Naples during the summer, as well as explore the waters of the Greek islands around Mykonos and Santorini.
