Silversea Cruises has announced a new and innovative culinary enrichment program, SALT, an acronym for “Sea and Land Taste,” designed with immersive dining experiences in mind. Developed in collaboration with Adam Sachs, a multi-award-winning journalist and former editor-in-chief of a leading food magazine, Silversea’s Sea and Land Taste will allow guests to embark on a culinary journey, launching with the new Silver Moon in August 2020.

The new SALT program will be tailored to each region visited and will incorporate enriching onboard and shore experiences, including visits to markets and wineries; culinary experiences in regional restaurants and bars; tastings; dinners with special guests; culinary lectures; and cooking classes and demonstrations by local guest chefs and gastronomy experts. A dedicated SALT lab will provide the perfect setting for guests to explore culinary cultures from around the world, while a new SALT restaurant will serve regional cuisine adapted to the sailing destination.
This new program is a true testament to Silversea's commitment to bringing guests closer to the authentic beauty of the world. SALT will build upon Silversea's dedication to providing engaging and unique experiences by connecting guests with fascinating destinations and cultures. The holistic journey of culinary discovery will extend throughout the cruise, both onboard and ashore, through experiences around the globe. The new culinary concept will make authentic local cuisine available to all guests throughout the entire cruise.
As director of Silversea's Sea and Land Taste project , renowned journalist and culinary expert Adam Sachs will draw on his extensive experience to help create these gastronomic journeys. A three-time winner of the prestigious James Beard Journalism Award and winner of numerous travel writing awards, Sachs has published in many of the world's leading newspapers and magazines.
“I’m thrilled to join Silversea to help deliver on its promise to ‘travel deeper’ by forging meaningful connections between our guests and the culinary tastes and traditions of the places we visit,” says Sachs. “My mission in this new role is simply an extension of the approach I’ve always taken as a food and travel writer: applying an endless curiosity and adventurous appetite to exploring the ingredients, cuisine, and rituals of the countries and communities we visit. There’s no better, or more enjoyable, way to engage with and understand the world than through the flavors and stories of its food and wine culture, and the people and personalities behind it. With this new initiative, Project SALT, Silversea offers the ultimate way to explore the world.”.
More details will be announced in due course.
