Madrid, April 10, 2019. Press Release – The Port Authority of Santander, in collaboration with the City Council and CANTUR (Cantabria Tourism), announces the Santander Cruise Forum: Premium and Luxury Cruises, on May 8. This event follows the first one held on June 28, 2018, reinforcing its strategy to attract more cruise traffic. The event will take place at the Botín Centre.
This event is organized by Cruises News Media Group, a consulting and media company specializing in the cruise industry, and organizer of the International Cruise Summit in Madrid and the Cruise Excellence Awards, as well as various events throughout Spain.
This forum will analyze this specific segment, the product it offers, and how to adapt products and services to its requirements, with the participation of cruise companies, shipping agents and industry experts including executives from Silversea Cruises, Ponant, Seadream Yacht Club and MSC Cruises, as well as wholesalers and shipping company representatives Mundomar Cruises, StarClass, in addition to Pérez y Cía and Intercruises.
The cruise industry has grown steadily in recent decades; long gone are the days when taking a cruise was a luxury reserved for the elite. Currently, most cruises cater to a middle-class or upper-middle-class clientele, and only a small group of companies offer services and exclusivity befitting very high-net-worth individuals.
Adequate port infrastructure is essential, in addition to providing cruise lines with special consignment and provisioning services for luxury and premium cruises, although this must be reinforced with local tourist services adapted to the demands of these cruise passengers, since their economic impact can be much greater if they are provided with services that meet their expectations.
The Port of Santander and its institutions aim to consolidate and increase cruise ship operations compared to previous years, and are developing initiatives in several areas to achieve this.The Santander Cruise Forum: Premium and Luxury Cruises will offer insights from experts and active professionals in the sector, not only into the differences between premium and luxury cruise lines, but also how some cruise lines considered standard are offering private spaces on their megaships so that their more affluent customers can feel comfortable, exclusive, and private.
This event is aimed at professionals in the port sector, auxiliary industry, travel agencies, institutions related to tourism promotion, as well as hotel services, restaurants, museums, shops, tour guides, and in general all those who can benefit from the arrival of premium and luxury cruise passengers in Santander or who want to expand their knowledge about this industry.
The forum will take place on May 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Botín Centre. Registration is free.
