The Port of Santander and Cantabria Tourism participated in the 35th edition of Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami, the world's leading cruise industry trade show, as part of their agreement to develop this tourism sector. The Port of Santander had a stand in the area dedicated to State Ports.
On this occasion, the president of the Port Authority, Jaime González, the director of the Port, Cristina López and the director of tourism of Cantabria, Eva Bartolomé, held a meeting with the director of the cruise division of Pérez y Cía, Ramiro Cobo as well as with the director of yachts and cruises and the head of tours Cristina Rodríguez and Antía Amoedo, respectively, to finalize the details of the 23 stops already confirmed in Santander for this year.
Furthermore, the Cantabrian delegation participated in a working breakfast at The Baazar Restaurant, run by the popular chef José Andrés, where the Port Authority and Tourism held meetings with Ravi Pavada of the Holland America Line; Michael Paulus, Director of Strategic Itineraries and Destination Planning for Azamara; Lindsay Currie, Account and Product Manager for Royal Caribbean; and Frédérique Patry, Planning Manager for Silversea. All of them are executives from some of the most important cruise lines in the industry.
In addition to the business meetings, the Cantabria delegation held institutional meetings with the president of State Ports, Salvador de la Encina, and with Javier Souto, commissioner for Florida and former senator of this State, as well as with the Consul General of Spain in Miami, the Cantabrian Cándido Creis Estrada and with Félix de Paz, director of the Turespaña office in this city.
A working meeting was also held with Virginia López, CEO of CruisesNews Media Group, to finalize the details for the upcoming Cruise Forum, its second edition, which will take place on May 8th in Santander, at the Botín Centre, and will bring together experts from this important tourism segment in an ambitious program of presentations.
