National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions has unveiled its highly anticipated 2028-2029 program, featuring a new season of expeditions that will allow travelers to delve even deeper into the fjords, reach more remote areas of the South Pacific, and have more time to explore the polar regions and their ice.
With 60 years of experience in expeditions, the company has carefully designed its new itineraries, as well as those that are being extended or reinstated, to coincide with some of nature's most spectacular events. All itineraries will be led by experts specializing in each destination.
The 2028-2029 season features new itineraries and route extensions in Antarctica, the Arctic, Alaska, Europe, and the South Pacific . Highlights include Christmas departures in Antarctica, longer Arctic expeditions, river cruises in Europe, and a return to French Polynesia , where the company will offer unique access to Makatea .
Makatea is the only upland atoll in French Polynesia and is notable for its oceanfront cliffs, limestone caves, and a grotto with stalactites that visitors can access by swimming.
Each expedition will be led by experienced expedition leaders, captains, and naturalists, whose deep knowledge of the destinations will allow them to offer passengers a broader context and a more enriching experience, bringing each place visited to life.
The new program adds to the company's offering of polar and nature expeditions, which includes itineraries through Antarctica and the Arctic aboard specialized ships such as National Geographic Resolution, National Geographic Explorer and National Geographic Endurance.
They also include European river cruises that combine cultural immersion with exclusive access and after-hours experiences. Passengers will have the opportunity to meet Holocaust survivors and hear their stories in Amsterdam, enjoy private after-hours visits to Melk Abbey and Clam Castle, and experience cruising through the Danube's Christmas markets.
