Viking announced today that its ocean itineraries for 2028–2029 are now available for booking, with more than 700 new departure dates across 80 cruises that will call at 301 ports in 84 countries and six continents.
This schedule represents the Viking's largest deployment of ocean-going cruise ships to date and includes new voyages aboard the company's fleet of small ocean-going ships, which have won numerous awards, including the new Viking Vega® and Viking Leda®.
The new itinerary lineup also expands Viking's global offerings with more sailings on the recently added Japan Discovery itinerary, as well as two new itineraries: Alaskan Fjords & the Inside Passage and Mediterranean, Malta & North Africa. In addition, there are new opportunities to discover the world through Viking cruises, which are destination-focused and designed to offer a more in-depth exploration experience.

The 2028–2029 itinerary includes cruises in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the Caribbean, South America, and the Panama Canal.
Passengers will be able to choose between eight-day cruises and grand round-the-world voyages, with carefully designed itineraries that can be combined to create longer, more immersive experiences. Among the main itineraries are:
NEW: Alaskan Fjords & the Inside Passage
15 days | Vancouver – Whittier
A journey through Alaska's Inside Passage and its majestic fjords. Passengers can kayak among pristine coves and hike trails through remote natural landscapes, while watching eagles soar through the sky and bears and whales emerge from the water.
The itinerary also offers the chance to meet hosts from the Tlingit community, who will share stories and convey their deep connection to these lands, enriching every moment of the trip.
NEW: Mediterranean, Malta & North Africa
16 days | Round trip from Rome
The voyage departs from Rome and heads to historic Valletta, where passengers can discover the legacy of the Knights of St. John. The ship will then arrive off the coast of North Africa to immerse itself in its vibrant cultures, before continuing on to Andalusia.
In this region, Moorish-inspired architecture—epitomized by the magnificent Alhambra in Granada, a UNESCO World Heritage Site—reflects centuries of cultural exchange.
The itinerary continues on to Provence and Corsica before returning to Rome under the warm Mediterranean sun.
Japan Discovery
15 days | Round trip from Tokyo
This itinerary begins in Tokyo and travels through Japan, crossing the Sea of Japan to reach the southeastern tip of the Korean Peninsula.
The ship makes stops in Niigata, Hakata (Fukuoka), Sapporo, and Shimizu—the latter of which includes an overnight stay—offering the opportunity to discover cultural sites that showcase the country's spiritual and architectural heritage.
Passengers will also be able to immerse themselves in the refined world of the geisha arts during an overnight stay in Tokyo, Japan’s vibrant capital, where modernity and tradition remain closely intertwined.
The Viking Vega and the Viking Leda
The Viking Vega and the Viking Leda, currently scheduled for delivery in 2028 and 2029, respectively, will be the newest ships in Viking's award-winning ocean-going fleet.
Like all Viking ocean-going ships, both will be classified as small ships. They will have a gross tonnage of 54,300 metric tons, 499 staterooms with a capacity for 998 passengers, and will feature all-balcony staterooms, elegant Scandinavian design, bright public spaces, and numerous outdoor dining options.
