Explora Journeys celebrated the departure of the EXPLORA III following its launch ceremony in Barcelona, where the fleet’s newest ship began its inaugural season and continued the brand’s journey to redefine luxury cruising.
Following the ceremony held next to the new terminal for MSC’s cruise division in Barcelona, EXPLORA III set sail on a voyage to Lisbon, marking a memorable moment for the brand. As it left the city, it was joined by its sister ship, EXPLORA I, and the two sailed together before heading to their respective destinations—an inspiring tribute to the continued growth of the Explora Journeys fleet.
This voyage marks another important chapter for Explora Journeys, which now has three ships sailing the world’s oceans. EXPLORA III is the brand’s first LNG-powered ship and offers a greater sense of spaciousness and a refined design, further enhancing the guest experience.
Its inaugural season has been carefully designed to showcase some of the world’s most extraordinary destinations through a more leisurely and immersive cruise experience. EXPLORA III will sail through Northern Europe, exploring the Baltic Sea, the Norwegian fjords, Iceland, and Greenland before crossing the Atlantic to Canada and New England. Along the way, guests will enjoy longer stays, enriching experiences at each destination, and itineraries that invite them to forge a deeper connection with every place they visit.
“Watching EXPLORA III set sail on its inaugural season is a moment of immense pride and excitement for the entire Explora Journeys team,” said Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys. “From the very beginning, our vision has been to create an entirely new category of sea travel, focused on space, elegance, intuitive hospitality, and meaningful experiences. EXPLORA III perfectly embodies that vision. Seeing it set sail from Barcelona, accompanied by EXPLORA I, is a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come and of the exciting journey that still lies ahead.”

Delivered by Fincantieri in Genoa on July 23, EXPLORA III has already marked a remarkable series of firsts. It welcomed the world’s No. 1 tennis player and global brand ambassador for Explora Journeys, Jannik Sinner, as its first guest during an exclusive Prelude Journey. This was followed by a special “Prelude Journey” that brought together more than 270 partner travel advisors and 150 media representatives from around the world, all before the ship was officially inaugurated in Barcelona.
Now, as it begins welcoming guests for its inaugural season, EXPLORA III introduces new culinary concepts, enhanced Ocean Wellness experiences, expanded common areas, and a second Owner’s Residence designed by renowned architect and designer Patricia Urquiola.
The launch of EXPLORA III marks another significant step in the brand’s long-term vision, with a fleet of six ships set to enter service between now and 2028. Each new ship builds on the experience of its predecessors, continually refining Explora Journeys’ promise of exceptional spaces, intuitive hospitality, and transformative ocean voyages.
