The S.S. Audrey, the next addition to Uniworld Boutique River Cruises' exclusive Super Ships™ fleet, will begin sailing on the Rhine in the spring of 2027 as a floating tribute to Audrey Hepburn.
Conceived by designer Liane van Leeuwen, the new ship draws inspiration from the personality, style, and legacy of the unforgettable actress to create an experience where design, art, and hospitality are woven into every detail.
The decor of the S.S. Audrey draws on the mid-century modern aesthetic characteristic of the 1950s and 1960s, coinciding with the period when Audrey Hepburn rose to international fame.
At the same time, the ship features numerous nods to the Netherlands, where the actress spent part of her youth. Delft ceramic vases, Dutch bird motifs on the fabrics, tulip prints, and the iconic Utrecht chairs, designed by Gerrit Rietveld, are all part of interiors conceived to reflect both Hepburn’s elegance and her connection to Dutch culture.
Beyond her film career and her status as a fashion icon, the collection seeks to convey the values that defined Audrey Hepburn: simplicity, kindness, optimism, and a commitment to humanitarian causes, especially during her time as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
Photographs of the actress, colorful prints, and functional yet sophisticated decor evoke her personality in various areas of the boat.
The aft lounge and private dining room are inspired by one of Audrey Hepburn's most iconic looks: the little black dress designed by Hubert de Givenchy and the pearl necklace she wore in the movie *Breakfast at Tiffany's*.
Pearls are one of the ship’s most distinctive decorative elements, even embroidered onto the fabrics in the private dining room as an elegant tribute to the actress and her close relationship with Givenchy.
The iconic Tiffany Blue will be one of the ship's predominant colors, creating a link between the world of Audrey Hepburn and the tradition of Dutch interior design.
In addition, the S.S. Audrey will feature Uniworld’s signature Tiny Noticeable Touches™—small details that lend personality to every space. These include a photographic mural of Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire in the gym, illustrations by Hubert de Givenchy in all cabins, and a pearl necklace adorning the ship’s bow, replacing the traditional artistic motif that distinguishes each of the company’s ships.
