The Port of Acapulco Cruises presents its new brand identity and opens a new chapter as a cruise destination

The Acapulco Cruise Port recently unveiled its new brand identity during a special event, marking an important milestone in the port's transformation and the destination's renewed positioning within the international cruise industry.

The Port of Acapulco Cruises presents its new brand identity and opens a new chapter as a cruise destinationThe event was attended by representatives of the Government of the State of Guerrero, the National Port System Administration of Acapulco, SA de CV (ASIPONA Acapulco), Global Ports Holding (GPH), Acapulco Cruise Port, representatives of the tourism sector and members of the local community.

The new logo is inspired by one of Acapulco's most recognizable symbols. The unveiling of the new image follows the signing of a 24-year concession agreement between GPH and ASIPONA Acapulco for the operation and development of the Acapulco Cruise Port. This is GPH's first cruise port concession in Mexico and establishes a long-term collaborative framework to strengthen Acapulco's role within cruise itineraries along the Mexican Riviera and the west coast of the Americas.

Mike Maura Jr., Regional Director for the Americas at Global Ports Holding, stated: “Today we celebrate an important milestone in the valuable collaboration between GPH, ASIPONA, and the citizens of Acapulco. This handover symbolizes the strong cooperation between ASIPONA and GPH, as well as our shared commitment to the development of cruise tourism in Acapulco. We are delighted to be here and very excited about the future ahead.”

Under the concession agreement, GPH will manage and make progressive investments in a concession area of approximately 17,199 square meters. The planned actions will focus on modernizing the cruise terminal, improving passenger flow, increasing operational efficiency and security, renewing the commercial and dining offerings, and enhancing the overall experience for visitors arriving in Acapulco.

GPH will also collaborate with cruise lines, public administrations, and local tourism agents to develop new destination experiences and land-based proposals that highlight Acapulco's culture, gastronomy, heritage, and natural beauty, while generating new opportunities for local businesses and communities.

At the same time, ASIPONA Acapulco is building a new 350-meter-long cruise ship pier, financed with public funds and scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027. This new infrastructure will allow the port to receive larger, state-of-the-art cruise ships, strengthening its capacity and fostering long-term growth in cruise tourism to the destination.

Clarivette Díaz, Regional Director for Latin America at Global Ports Holding, explained: “This new identity reflects our confidence in Acapulco and our ambition for the future of its cruise sector. Acapulco boasts an extraordinary tourism legacy, a rich maritime history, and a globally recognized cultural identity. Working closely with ASIPONA, the Government of Guerrero, our partner companies, and the local community, we want to leverage these strengths to create a modern, welcoming port experience that is unmistakably linked to Acapulco.”

During the ceremony, Emilio Vázquez Villanueva was also recognized as the new General Manager of the Acapulco Cruise Port. Vázquez Villanueva will lead the local GPH team and work closely with ASIPONA Acapulco, local authorities, cruise lines, and community representatives to manage port operations and the ongoing development of the project.

The new identity of Acapulco Cruise Port will begin to be implemented gradually in the port's communications, its digital platforms, signage and all materials directed at passengers as the project progresses.
