Holland America Line has unveiled four new shows for the World Stage theater on its ship Oosterdam, reinforcing its award-winning onboard entertainment offering with original productions developed in collaboration with RWS Global, a world leader in live entertainment experiences, and the iconic Rolling Stone brand.
The big news is “Holland America Line and Rolling Stone Present, All Access: The Songs That Shaped Us,” a rock show created jointly by RWS Global and Rolling Stone that pays tribute to some of the most legendary bands and artists in the genre. This premiere follows the success of the Rolling Stone Lounge, already available on most of the company's ships.
“We listened to our guests, who asked for more visually stunning productions with extraordinary music and memorable performances, and these four new shows exactly meet those expectations,” said Joe Chantry, Vice President of Entertainment and Enrichment for Holland America Line.
“Together with our creative partners at RWS Global and Rolling Stone, we have developed a bold, immersive program that is highly representative of Holland America Line, offering even more reasons for our guests to enjoy the World Stage every night.”
Four new exclusive productions
Following its successful premiere on the Koningsdam, the show “Fosse and Verdon, The Duet That Changed Broadway” has also been added to the Oosterdam's program. The new productions “Decadence” and “Disco Fever,” already running on board, complete the offerings.
For Craig Laurie, creative director of RWS Global, the collaboration with Rolling Stone represents another step in the evolution of the shipping company's entertainment.
“The new show leverages the immense prestige of one of the world’s most iconic music brands to create an unforgettable experience for Holland America Line guests. The extraordinary success of the Rolling Stone Lounge demonstrates that passengers are looking for authentic, brand-inspired, and nostalgic offerings. Building on that popular experience, we’ve created a truly theatrical production featuring singers, dancers, and the Rolling Stone Lounge band.”
Julian Holguin, CEO of Rolling Stone, said:“Rolling Stone has always celebrated songs and artists that evoke emotions, connect people, and create memories. This collaboration with Holland America Line brings that spirit to the stage in an innovative and immersive way. We are thrilled to expand on the success of the Rolling Stone Lounge with a new live experience that stays true to the essence of Rolling Stone and perfectly suits travelers who want to experience music in a special way.”
– “All Access: The Songs That Shaped Us”
The star attraction of the new program celebrates some of the biggest names in rock history, with songs from artists such as The Eagles, Janis Joplin, Van Halen and Fleetwood Mac.
It is a high-energy concert that combines live music, dynamic choreography and a carefully crafted stage production to pay tribute to some of rock's greatest hits.
– “Decadence”
A production that fuses music, dance and visual effects, drawing inspiration from the glamour of Las Vegas, the sophistication of New York and the splendor of classic Hollywood.
Great musical hits accompany a spectacular set design featuring dancers and a high-impact stage production.
-“Disco Fever”
A journey to the golden age of disco music with classics like Le Freak, It's Raining Men or I Love the Nightlife.
The show transforms the stage into a large dance floor full of light, rhythm and energy, reinterpreting the hits of the seventies with a contemporary aesthetic.
-“Fosse and Verdon, The Duet That Changed Broadway”
Created in collaboration with The Verdon Fosse Legacy®, this show traces the career of two of Broadway's most influential figures: Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon.
The production includes original choreography, as well as previously unreleased audio and video archival material, revisiting such iconic musicals as Damn Yankees, Sweet Charity, Cabaret and Chicago.
One of the critics who attended the premiere went so far as to describe it as "the best show I have ever seen on a cruise ship.
The four shows are now part of the Oosterdam's program, and departures for this autumn are now available for booking.
