Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines presents its Grand Voyage of 87 nights through the Amazon and Antarctica in 2028The new itinerary, which goes on sale July 22, will depart from Southampton on January 5, 2028, aboard the Borealis for an 87-night voyage. The journey will call at 28 ports in 17 countries across five continents, combining some of the world's most fascinating natural landscapes, ecosystems, cultures, and cities into a single experience.

Among the highlights is the navigation along the Amazon River, with stops in Manaus and Santarém, which will allow you to discover one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet.

Afterwards, the cruise will head south to round Cape Horn before enjoying three days of scenic sailing around the Antarctic Peninsula, where passengers will be able to observe penguins, seabirds and other species typical of this remote environment from the deck thanks to the dimensions of the Borealis, which are especially suitable for this type of voyage.

The itinerary also includes overnight stays in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, offering ample time to explore both cities, plus stops in Samaná Bay (Dominican Republic) and Dominica, where travelers can discover some of the Caribbean's most pristine landscapes and enjoy whale-watching opportunities.

“This is an extraordinary journey, carefully designed to bring together some of the world’s most spectacular destinations on a single round-trip cruise from the UK,” said Martin Lister, Head of Product Innovation at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.

“This will be our return to the Amazon after nine years, and we have designed a truly different itinerary, with scenic navigation along one of the world’s great rivers, bringing guests closer to the rainforest and its extraordinary wildlife, from colorful birds to the famous pink Amazon river dolphins.”

“In contrast, Antarctica offers the opportunity to explore a region that very few people ever visit, with three days of sailing through ice-covered waters, immense glaciers, and snow-capped mountains.”

“Combined with stopovers in some of the most iconic cities in South America and the Caribbean, this journey has been designed to offer depth, variety, and unforgettable experiences from beginning to end.”

Bookings made before August 19, 2026, will be eligible for the Freedom Fare Price Promise, a guarantee that the cruise line will not offer a lower price for the first four weeks after its launch. Additionally, during this period, travelers booking single occupancy will have access to a selection of cabins without the single supplement.

The Freedom Fare fare also includes full board with selected drinks during lunch and dinner, onboard entertainment and lectures, complimentary shuttle buses in selected ports, access to the gym and sports activities, as well as port taxes, gratuities, and the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines satisfaction guarantee.
