Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has announced an exclusive 87-night Grand Voyage that will explore the Amazon and Antarctica in 2028, making it the only cruise that will allow travelers to visit both destinations on a single round-trip cruise departing from the United Kingdom.
The new itinerary, which will go on sale on July 22, will depart from Southampton on January 5, 2028, aboard the Borealis for an 87-night voyage. The voyage will call at 28 ports in 17 countries across five continents, combining some of the world’s most fascinating natural landscapes, ecosystems, cultures, and cities into a single experience.
Among the highlights is a cruise down the Amazon River, with stops in Manaus and Santarém, offering the chance to explore one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet.
The cruise ship will then set course south to round Cape Horn before enjoying three days of scenic sailing around the Antarctic Peninsula, where passengers will be able to observe penguins, seabirds, and other species native to this remote environment from the deck, thanks to the Borealis’s size, which is particularly well-suited for this type of voyage.
The itinerary also includes overnight stays in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, offering plenty of time to explore both cities, as well as stops in Samaná Bay (Dominican Republic) and Dominica, where travelers can discover some of the Caribbean’s most unspoiled landscapes and enjoy whale-watching opportunities.

Bookings made before August 19, 2026, will be eligible for the Freedom Fare Price Promise, a guarantee through which the cruise line assures that the cruise will not be offered at a lower price during the first four weeks after its launch. Additionally, during that period, travelers booking as single occupants will have access to a selection of staterooms without a single supplement.

Itinerary
The Borealis will depart from Southampton on January 5, 2028, for the “Amazon & Antarctica Adventure” itinerary, with prices starting at 10,999 pounds per person.
The itinerary includes stops in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santa Cruz de La Palma, Saint John’s (Antigua), Samaná Bay (Dominican Republic), Ocho Ríos (Jamaica), Puerto Limón (Costa Rica), Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), Willemstad (Curaçao), Fort-de-France (Martinique), Saint George’s (Grenada), Roseau (Dominica), and Bridgetown (Barbados).
The ship will then sail down the Amazon, making stops in Santarém, Manaus (with an overnight stay on board), Boca da Valéria, Alter do Chão, and Fortaleza, before continuing on to Búzios and Rio de Janeiro (also with an overnight stay in port).
The route will continue to Puerto Madryn (Argentina), Punta Arenas (Chile), Cape Horn, the Drake Passage, the Antarctic Peninsula, the Falkland Islands, Montevideo, Buenos Aires (with an overnight stay in port), Salvador de Bahía, Mindelo (Cape Verde), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, La Coruña, and back to Southampton.
