Riviera Travel launches a new five-star ship that will sail the Rhine and Danube and reinforces its commitment to the premium segment with two new additions planned for the coming years.

Riviera Travel welcomes the Riviera Resplendence, its third Radiance-class river cruise shipRiviera Travel has expanded its fleet of river cruises with the addition of the Riviera Resplendence, its new five-star ship, which began its inaugural voyage from Cologne on July 4th with an itinerary along the Rhine towards Switzerland.

The new ship represents a new step in the company's growth strategy, which has specialized for more than four decades in river cruises, land travel and luxury experiences.

“Riviera Resplendence represents another important milestone for Riviera Travel as we continue to expand our award-winning fleet of river cruise ships,” said Stuart Milan, President of Riviera Travel North America. “As demand for premium river cruising continues to grow, we continue to add thoughtfully designed ships that allow us to deliver the exceptional experiences and outstanding value that define Riviera Travel.”.

A sister ship to the Riviera Radiance, the Riviera Resplendence is the third member of the Radiance class, a series of ships that stand out for their distinctive split-level design, conceived to offer brighter public spaces, better panoramic views and a contemporary and open atmosphere on board.

The ship has capacity for 178 passengers, distributed in 89 cabins and suites, and incorporates an elegant panoramic lounge, three gastronomic spaces specializing in regional cuisine and a large sun deck from which to enjoy the landscapes of the European waterways.

Designed by Scylla, Riviera Travel's long-standing shipbuilding partner, the Riviera Resplendence features a completely revamped interior design. The finishes combine gold accents, warm woods, and vibrant wall coverings, replacing traditional light palettes with a more elegant and inviting aesthetic.

“We want our guests to feel at home during their time on board,” explain Scylla interior designers Michel van der Velden and Cathy Schroder. “We hope travelers will appreciate the design details and find inspiration in them, whether it’s a wall covering or any other element they might want to recreate in their own homes.”.

The Riviera Resplendence will operate 18 different itineraries on the Rhine and Danube rivers, including:

  • Budapest – Black Sea.
  • Rhine River cruise to Switzerland.
  • Rhine, Moselle and Switzerland.
  • The Blue Danube.
  • Special Christmas and New Year's cruises.
  • Exclusive departures for solo travelers.

The company plans to continue expanding this series of ships with the addition of Riviera Reflection and Riviera Rhapsody, which are scheduled to enter service within the next two years, thus reinforcing Riviera Travel's investment in a new generation of river vessels.

With over four decades of experience, Riviera Travel currently operates a fleet of 13 ships specifically designed to navigate some of Europe's most iconic rivers, including the Danube, Rhine, Moselle, Main, Rhône, Seine, Douro and the waterways of the Netherlands.

The company has recently strengthened its presence in the US market with the opening of a North American headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Riviera Travel also stands out for its offering aimed at solo travelers, a segment in which it has the largest number of specific departures on the market, including a ship dedicated exclusively to this type of customer.
