Seabourn has unveiled The Ruby Collection, a carefully curated selection of 54 trips for 2028 to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary.
The program encompasses its entire fleet of five luxury and expedition ships and incorporates enhanced onboard services, exclusive experiences, and access to destinations inaccessible to large cruise ships.
From exclusive marinas to polar regions, the collection commemorates Seabourn's Ruby Jubilee through new itineraries, voyages inspired by the origins of the cruise line, and grand exploration journeys.
Among the most prominent programs are:
- the 120-day “Cape to Cape” round-the-world cruise, departing on January 7, 2028;
- the second edition of the Great Expedition: Pole to Pole, a 96-day journey from the High Arctic to Antarctica;
- the new Yachtsman Collection, with cruises through the Caribbean and the Mediterranean that bring back the small marinas that inspired the creation of Seabourn;
- and new itineraries designed to coincide with cultural events in Japan, Southeast Asia and other destinations.
“Some journeys remain forever etched in travelers’ memories,” said Mark Tamis, president of Seabourn. “Our story began in 1988, when we redefined cruising with the first fleet of small luxury ships designed to offer the feeling of sailing on a private yacht. As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, that same pioneering spirit inspires The Ruby Collection, a program that honors our origins and continues to push the boundaries of exploration.”
The Yachtsman Collection
The Yachtsman Collection revives the philosophy with which the first Seabourn ships were born in 1988: small, elegant vessels capable of accessing marinas and coves inaccessible to large cruise ships.
The itineraries focus on small ports in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, with long stays on land and days of relaxed sailing.
Highlights of the destinations include places like Bequia, Martinique and the British Virgin Islands, combined with stopovers in Corsica and Sardinia.
Also returning are iconic experiences from the cruise line such as:
- Caviar in the Surf, a caviar and champagne tasting on Carambola beach in San Cristóbal.
- Shopping with the Chef: Visits to local markets with the ship's chef to discover regional products.
Some cruises also include nights in port, such as an overnight stop in Portofino and enough time to visit the historic Monastery of St. John on the Greek island of Patmos.
Caribbean
The Seabourn Ovation will operate cruises of between 7 and 14 days between St. Martin and Barbados, including tours of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao).
Two special New Year's cruises will culminate on January 1 with the traditional Caviar in the Surf celebration, when the Seabourn Ovation and Seabourn Quest ships meet at Carambola Beach.
Mediterranean
Also on board the Seabourn Ovation, seven-day itineraries will be offered through the Aegean Sea, the French Riviera, the Dalmatian coast, Sardinia and Corsica.
These trips will include the popular Marina Day, during which the ship's retractable platform becomes a private marina from which passengers can enjoy water sports free of charge.
Southeast Asia and Japan
The Seabourn Encore will make a series of cruises with extended stops in Shanghai, Osaka and Kobe, in addition to new stops in Taichung and Tainan (Taiwan).
One of the trips will coincide with the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival, while the Shopping with the Chef excursions will tour traditional markets from Nagasaki to Kagoshima.
Alaska
The Seabourn Encore will return to Alaska during the summer solstice period, incorporating for the first time stops in Petersburg, Valdez and the Chiswell Islands.
The season will also include an eight-day pre-cruise experience in Denali, with a train trip to Denali National Park, scenic flights, and a farewell dinner in Juneau.
Canada and New England
The Seabourn Quest will debut a new itinerary that will mark the return of the cruise line to Red Bay, with an overnight stay in St. John's (Newfoundland) and scenic sailing along the St. Lawrence River.
Northern Europe and the Arctic
The expedition ships Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit will expand their schedule in northern Europe.
Among the new features are:
- round-trip expeditions from Reykjavik with six days in Svalbard;
- new routes between Iceland and the British Isles;
- first stop in Tvøroyri (Faroe Islands);
- Zodiac landings in Klaksvík;
- first stop in Cape Clear Island (Ireland);
- and expeditions through Greenland, the Torngat Mountains and the Labrador coast.
South America and Antarctica
The expeditions through the southern hemisphere will go even further, combining Antarctica with the Juan Fernández Islands, the Chilean fjords, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Brazil.
One of the trips, lasting 34 days, will cross the Atlantic visiting Port Stanley, South Georgia, Saint Helena and Tristan da Cunha, considered the most remote inhabited island on the planet.
The expeditions will include Zodiac landings, kayaking tours, penguin colonies, and landings on remote Antarctic shores.
Cape to Cape Round the World Cruise
The star attraction of The Ruby Collection will be the 120-day “Cape to Cape” cruise. Departing on January 7, 2028, the Seabourn Quest will travel more than 26,000 nautical miles, visiting 58 destinations in 23 countries across five continents.
The voyage will include destinations such as Antarctica, Easter Island, the Falkland Islands and Cape Town, beginning with the transit of the Panama Canal, a tribute to the first cruise undertaken by Seabourn in 1988.
A shorter, 112-day version between Miami and Lisbon will also be offered.
For the first time on a Seabourn World Cruise, passengers will enjoy free, authentic expedition experiences led by a team of 18 specialists, with activities in Antarctica and the Chilean fjords.
Great Expedition: Pole to Pole
Another major new feature will be the second edition of the Great Expedition: Pole to Pole.
On board the Seabourn Venture, he will depart on August 16, 2028 to travel more than 20,500 nautical miles from the Arctic to the Antarctic.
The journey will begin on Ellesmere Island, one of the northernmost and most remote regions on the planet, and will travel through 14 countries and territories, including:
- five days in Antarctica;
- three days in South Georgia;
- three days in the Falklands.
There will also be a reduced 82-day version.
The 2028 schedule will also bring back some of Seabourn's most popular customer itineraries, including the Baltic; Alaska; the British Isles; Southeast Asia; Antarctica; the Northwest Passage; and the wildlife-rich waters of South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
To mark the anniversary, Seabourn will launch a groundbreaking collaboration with The Atlantic magazine, inspired by its prestigious Atlantic Festival. The cruise “12 Days with The Atlantic: A Seabourn Conversations Exclusive,” departing on October 4, 2028, from Montreal to Boston, will bring together leading intellectuals and cultural figures for exclusive onboard lectures and discussions.
All Seabourn cruises in 2028 will include special activities to celebrate the Ruby Jubilee, with themed events, shows, celebrations, and cultural programs inspired by the company's history.
The Ruby Collection voyages will also incorporate exclusive details to commemorate Seabourn's 40-year history. All of the company's voyages maintain its all-inclusive philosophy, which includes ocean-view suites; premium beverages and select wines at no extra cost; gratuities included; and exclusive events such as Caviar in the Surf, Marina Day, and Shopping with the Chef.
