, one of the peak seasons for cruise tourism at the Port of Malaga, is beginning. The port expects to receive approximately 237,158 passengers across 153 port calls over the next four months.
As a relevant fact, 33 of these stops, concentrated between the months of September and December, correspond to luxury and premium shipping lines, thus continuing the upward trend of this type of tourism.
In relation to the above, it should be noted that of the 23 planned port calls between September and November, a total of 8 correspond to exclusive category shipping companies, such as Ponant Compagnie or Windstar Cruises, some with overnight stays in port.
First stops
A total of 10 ships will visit the Port of Malaga for the first time this autumn. The season opened on September 11th with the maiden call of the Allura, a luxury ship from Oceania Cruises. Measuring 241 meters in length and with a capacity for 1,252 passengers, it is the second in the Allura class and the newest in the fleet, having debuted in July of this year. It offers an experience focused on gastronomy and personalized service.
This first stop will be followed by others corresponding to companies such as Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruise Lines, Aida Cruises and Costa Crociere SPA, among others.
During this period, the Port of Malaga will accommodate a maximum of three cruise ships per day, except on specific dates—such as September 29, October 6, 26, and 31, or November 2 and 17—when up to four ships will be in port. Additionally, on November 4, five cruise ships are scheduled to arrive as an exception. This operation, like all others, will be carefully coordinated to ensure the quality of the tourist experience and the sustainability of the activity.
