Egypt will host the first “Cruise Egypt” forum to promote sustainable tourism and position the country as a key global cruise destination

Cairo is preparing to host the first “Cruise Egypt” forum, under the theme “Sailing the Egyptian Legacy,” to be held on June 1 and 2, 2025. This landmark event will open new opportunities for the local tourism industry and support the implementation of the National Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2030.

Egypt will host the first “Cruise Egypt” forum to promote sustainable tourism and position the country as a key global cruise destinationOrganized under the sponsorship and with the participation of the Suez Canal Authority, and with the support of partners from the Gulf and Europe, the forum will bring together a distinguished group of national and international stakeholders. Participants include senior executives from major cruise lines, representatives from international tourism and port management companies, senior government officials, and global experts in tourism and maritime transport.

The forum is being held at a pivotal moment for Egypt, as the country takes a significant leap forward in its tourism vision. Within the framework of Vision Egypt 2030, the goal is to attract 30 million tourists annually by 2028, with a projected annual growth rate of 25 to 30%. Cruise tourism has established itself as one of the most promising and fastest-growing sectors, offering sustainable, exclusive, and culturally enriching experiences, in line with global travel trends.

“Cruise Egypt” will be the first event of its kind in Egypt dedicated exclusively to cruise tourism, aiming to position the country as a key port of call on international cruise routes. Thanks to its strategic location between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, its diverse tourist attractions, and its growing port infrastructure, Egypt has the potential to become a regional hub for cruise tourism.

The event will also highlight significant investment opportunities in the development of ports, islands, and maritime tourism support services. Several interactive sessions will bring together representatives from the public and private sectors, including shipping lines, port developers, maritime agencies, and logistics companies, to discuss practical steps for improving Egypt's cruise infrastructure and streamlining travel and port procedures.

As part of the event program, international guests will enjoy a special cultural tour in Cairo, which will include the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Khan El Khalili bazaar, offering them a taste of the authentic Egyptian experience that cruise ship passengers can also enjoy.

The forum will also serve as a platform to present new ideas for promoting Egypt as a cruise destination and to launch integrated travel programs that combine sea voyages with land exploration, highlighting Egypt's rich heritage and hospitality.

With the organization of the “Cruise Egypt” forum, Egypt is taking a firm and tangible step to consolidate its position as a strategic hub for cruise tourism in the Middle East and North Africa. This event reaffirms the country's commitment to sustainable development, tourism innovation, and leveraging its cultural heritage and geographical advantages to attract a greater number of international travelers.
