On January 10, Cunard 's new luxury ship , the Queen Anne, embarked on its grand 107-night Round the World voyage from Southampton, marking a new chapter in the shipping company's distinguished history.
Spectators from all over the city witnessed the ship's departure at 9:00 p.m., which was celebrated with a dazzling fireworks display.
The ship, with a capacity for 3,000 passengers, will make its first stop in New York on January 17, a city that has a long-standing connection with Cunard and has hosted Cunard passengers more often than any other destination.
The Queen Anne thus becomes the fourteenth ship in Cunard's illustrious history to embark on a circumnavigation voyage. Furthermore, the Queen Anne will be the largest Cunard ship to complete a full circumnavigation.
Over 107 nights, the Queen Anne will call at 30 different ports in 18 countries. Highlights of the voyage include Miami, San Francisco, the Panama Canal, Honolulu, Auckland, Sydney, and Hong Kong, among others. Passengers will also cross the International Date Line on February 12, experiencing the rare phenomenon of "time travel.".
This round-the-world trip will include overnight stops in New York, Honolulu, Sydney, and Singapore, ending its journey on April 27 on the south coast.
