Costa Cruises restructures its commercial team in which Francesco Muglia assumes the new position of commercial director while Luigi Stefanelli assumes the new position of vice president of Worldwide Sales.
Francesco Muglia will be responsible for, with a global reach, the areas of Marketing, Communication, Trade Marketing, Sales, and On Board Revenues, while Luigi Stefanelli, who reports directly to Francesco as Vice President of Global Sales, will be responsible for Costa's commercial activities in all markets in the Southern European region (Italy, France, Spain and Portugal), which he will continue to manage directly, as well as DACH (Germany, Switzerland and Austria), the Americas (North America and South America) and International Markets (Northern and Eastern Europe and emerging markets).
“I am delighted with Luigi’s appointment following his excellent work in key markets. Luigi is a key partner in defining our commercial strategy, and I am convinced he can give a major boost to Costa’s global business development and the execution of our strategy,” said Francesco Muglia, Chief Commercial Officer of Costa Cruises.
Luigi Stefanelli, a 39-year-old from Naples, joined Costa in Genoa in 2012 in the Pricing & Revenue Management department. Since then, he has held positions of increasing responsibility in several countries where the company operates. He first served as Business Development and Pricing Director for the Asia Pacific and Australia region, spending three years in Shanghai. Upon his return to Europe, he was appointed Managing Director of the Costa and AIDA brands in Austria and Switzerland, and later Managing Director for Central Europe. Since 2019, he has gradually assumed responsibilities for Spain and Portugal, France, and Italy, becoming Associate Vice President for the Southern Europe Region in 2023.
“I am deeply honored by this new appointment and excited to continue working with an exceptional team, contributing together to Costa’s success,” commented Luigi Stefanelli, Vice President of Global Sales. He added: “I am convinced that, with the collaboration and combined efforts of our partners in every region, we will achieve new levels of growth and strengthen Costa’s position as a leader in the cruise industry.”.
