The Port of Vigo was visited by representatives from three luxury cruise lines—Windstar Cruises, Aboard The World, and Azamara—as part of a tour organized by Turespaña in Miami. The tour will visit the main cruise ports in northern Spain this week, with the Galician leg organized by Turismo de Galicia.
Upon their arrival at the port, Richard Trautwein of Windstar Cruises; Katherine Edith Aranibar of Aboard The World; and Andrea Baigorria of Azamara—accompanied by representatives from Turismo de Galicia and Turespaña—were welcomed by the port’s chief executive, Carlos Botana, and members of his management team.
During their stay in Vigo, the delegation visited the Vigo Cruise Terminal and the Atlantic Vigo Cruise Terminal, where they were welcomed by the managers of each facility, Sabela Vázquez and Javier Castro, respectively.
The visit concluded with a boat trip along the Vigo Estuary, where they were able to see the seabed, observe mussel farming firsthand, and spot sunken ships at depths of more than 13 m.
All three shipping companies serve high-net-worth clients and are known for offering personalized service. All three have called at the port of Vigo at some point and have made port calls there in 2023.
Their visit to the Galician ports will conclude tomorrow, Wednesday, after which they will head to other locations in northern Spain to explore destination options at the terminals along the route. The main goal of these shipping companies is to offer their passengers different and exclusive alternatives, as well as to call at small ports.
