Scenic includes in its river cruises a selection of new shore excursions related to history, gastronomy and wildlife.
On its 11-day "Spectacular South of France" itinerary, which sails round trip from Lyon along the Saône and Rhône rivers to the Mediterranean, passengers can participate in the "Ancestors of the Kitchen" excursion, which includes a visit to a family-run olive grove and a cooking class to learn local recipes. They can also visit the medieval hilltop village of Les Baux.
Their 15-day “Romantic Rhine and Moselle” tour now includes a visit to the “Versailles of Holland”: the 17th-century Het Loo Palace, built in the Dutch Baroque style.
For the first time, Scenic passengers will be able to visit the provincial town of Grignan, in Viviers, to visit a truffle nursery as part of the “Idyllic Rhône” cruise from Lyon to Marseille, where they will learn about its production and its multiple uses.
The nine-day “Black Sea Explorer” cruise takes passengers from Budapest to Bucharest along the Danube River aboard the Scenic Amber. In Osijek, they can explore the Kopacki Rit Nature Park by boat, home to 260 bird species, 140 of which nest permanently or temporarily in the wetlands. It is home to the great egret, white stork, black stork, white-tailed eagle, and common coot.
Sailing from Amsterdam to Budapest, Scenic's 15-day "Jewels of Europe" cruise travels along the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers, stopping at a selection of iconic European cities. New to the program, passengers can ride the Winzerexpress mini-train in Rüdesheim, take a guided tour of the Siegfried Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments, and then take a cable car to visit the Niederwald Monument, which commemorates the unification of Germany in the 19th century.
